JKD Unlimited 3 most F.A.Q.

I will address 3 of the most common questions perspective students have about our JKD MMA FOR THE STREET PROGRAM.

I want to let everyone know that this program was designed for the purpose of bringing the best in Practical Self Defense utlizing cutting edge modern training methods and techniques proven in the street and in competition.

The JKD MMA FOR THE STREET PROGRAM is the only martial arts program of its kind. The lineage of our training program goes back to Bruce Lee and Dan Inosoanto. Bruce Lee was the creator of Jeet Kune Do along with Dan Inosanto's influence on JKD through Kali, Silat, Panatuken and Thai Boxing. Burton Richardson holds Full Instructorships under Dan Inosanto , Larry Hartsell, and a Black Belt
in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Egan Inoue who was a second generation UFC fighter in the Mid 90's.

1. Do I have to compete to be part of the JKD program?

2. Do I have to have any prior martial arts experience to join the JKD program?

3. Is the JKD program safe?

Here are the answers to these very important questions.

1. No one ever has to compete. We emphasize self - defense, fun and offer a high level of fitness. Sure, we have had students compete, but less than 5 percent of our students compete. I, myself have competed very little in my years as a martial arts student.  I used to be an extremely competitive junior and young adult tennis player, so I understand and appreciate competition, however my favorite part of both tennis and the martial arts has always been the daily training to maintain a high level of physical fitness and stress reliever.

For those who desire to compete, there are opportunities through our program to compete in Kickboxing, Submission Grappling and MMA events. During the last 4 years, our school has participated in local events with Cellar Kickboxing, Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Minnesota Top Team, Savage American Martial Arts and more.

2. You do not need any experience to join our program. All that is required is the willingness to learn and be a safe and reliable training partner for your fellow students.

 3. Our Training program is very safe because we require our students to wear full face cages, shoes, training gloves, mouthguards and shin instep protectors. We follow the "protect your partner" philosophy so that our training is a positive and rewarding experience for everyone.

I have posted some photos of students sparring in their training gear.
